Emmaus Journey - Justin Harper

Emmaus Journey - Justin Harper

Emmaus Journey is a ministry in full-union with the Roman Catholic Church and in obedience to the local ordinary (local bishop). We find our calling in the story of the Road to Emmaus, in that we are seeking to ‘journey with” those who have been disheartened or who have scattered from the Church, leading them back home to Christ (Luke 24:13-35). Our model is centered on evangelization and discipleship within the local parish, in conjunction with the desires and vision that the parish priest has for the formation of those entrusted to his care.

Our Lord gave us the command to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18-20); this was a commissioning not only of those 11 who followed Him most closely and gave everything up for the Gospel, but it is for all of us, a call to deeper conversion and participation in the saving work of Christ, caring for our brothers and sisters, most especially in the formation of their faith and encouraging them in living lives of radical holiness.

Emmaus Journey has embraced Goal #1 of the National Evangelization Plan Go and Make Disciples: "To bring about in all Catholics such an enthusiasm for their faith that, in living their faith in Jesus, they freely share it with others." We align ourselves with the mission of the Church.

Our Mission

In unity with the vision and mission of our parish priest, we seek to serve the parish by forming a community of men and women who desire to know Christ personally and deeply, who encounter His transforming power of love and mercy in a real way, and who desire to share this experience with others. This will, with God’s grace, be realized through personal invitations into an authentic relationship centered on Christ between ourselves and those we work with, and geared towards Christian formation and growth. Whether this is in parish programming, small group bible/book studies, hosted community meals at our home, or through one-on-one discipleship (mentoring), all is done through an evangelical heart; namely, with the motive to assist our brothers and sisters to come to know Jesus Christ personally and deeply. This is authentic friendship, because it reflects the true friendship that Christ invited His closest disciples to embrace (John 15:15).Lucy-Glasses

How Can I Help?

Without the financial support and witness of our mission partners, we would be unable to serve this mission with the radical availability and full-time commitment that the Lord has called us to! We truly believe that He has called us in this way to serve Him, and we come with great joy and excitement to participate in some small way, in His saving plan.
