Healing Rooms of Colorado Springs
James 5:14 – 16a says “is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed (NASB). The Healing Rooms is an ecumenical forum with people from multiple denominations praying together for the sick – this is obedience to God’s directives – as “one body with many parts.”
Many people pray once or twice and get no results then quit. Jesus tells us to do the exact opposite. “Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, 2 saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. 3 There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me legal protection from my opponent.’ 4 For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.’” 6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge said; 7 now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? 8 I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:1-8, NASB)” There is also the story that Jesus tells of the neighbor who is in bed at night and Jesus tells us in that to KEEP praying! The point is that God calls us to keep pressing in, to keep praying, to keep seeking God for whatever the need….especially healing.
Our vision is to provide a safe, comfortable place for those in need of healing – physical, emotional, spiritual (any type), to come and receive prayer from elders multiple times a week if needed. This is not as a way of showing how spiritual we are by making long prayers, this is a way of providing a forum for the church to be obedient to these commands Jesus gives us.
Another aspect of this ministry that is very dear to our hearts is for the church to be edified. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence. 26 You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also (Mathew 23:25, NASB). This verse conceptualizes perfectly what so many know to be going on in their lives and feel powerless to overcome it. A huge percentage of people in the church and world suffer addictions, reactions to situations that do not warrant the reaction, PTSD, emotional problems, and so much more. Often, it is people who are considered “ok in life” suffering these inner issues—quietly fighting and not overcoming, not able to become who they know they should be. Many of these inner problems are rooted in inner wounds, lies believed, and many other inner sources. The Healing Rooms is here for people to come and receive an “overhaul” of their “inner man”. Many pastors get overcome internally by the stress of ministry, this is a place to come receive prayer for your inner self – for healing and building up – for strengthening and to receive a touch of Christ’s amazing Love. Love is our focus and fuel. This is a place to come with drastic issues and subtle issues – the subtle issues are what can really cause damage when left unchecked as those issues sneak in and destroy. The Healing Rooms is here for massive problems and smaller problems that will eventually cause devastation.
