GENEROUS INDIVIDUALS & FAMILIES

Supporting family service and generosity is an important aspect of The New Horizons Foundation vision so we offer experienced assistance in estate planning, nonprofit organizations, charitable trusts, business structures, and non-cash gifts.  The Foundation offers Donor-Advised Funds and support services for private foundations, supporting organizations, charitable trusts, and family offices.

The Foundation offers a variety of resources related to helping families give their time, treasure and talent. Below you will find descriptions of some of the services we provide that help you save more, give more and ultimately live more for what you are passionate about.

DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) allows a family to establish a family foundation without the complications, cost, and delays of setting up a private foundation.Donor-Advised Funds allow generous families to make tax-deductible gifts of cash, personal assets, or property to a public charity and then make gifts from the DAF over time to qualified charitable organizations.

Many people utilize their Donor-Advised Fund to support operating projects that the family establishes at the Foundation. It is our policy to ensure that your vision for charitable impact is taken to the world for years to come!

In establishing a DAF at New Horizons Foundation, you will receive personalized service from a staff with over 30 years of experience who will help to ensure your charitable vision is achieved. Our website allows you to have secure on-line access to your project from anywhere in the world to monitor grants, contributions, and if applicable, investment account activity. The Foundation takes care of all the paperwork, tax reporting, IRS filing and investments so that donors can concentrate on supporting the important charities they are passionate about.

NEW HORIZONS FOUNDATION

PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS

By establishing a partnership, private foundations can have access to all of the programs that are available to project managers under The New Horizons Foundation. The private foundation administrators function as project managers for the project and have the ability to establish different types of projects for their foundation and its members. Foundations can simplify their tax reporting by making all of their charitable gifts through their project at New Horizons. Private foundation administrators have access to all of the forms and records they need from The New Horizons Foundation website 24/7.

PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS

SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS

Supporting Organizations to The New Horizons Foundation must be approved in advance by the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Supporting Organizations may be in the form of a corporation or a trust. They can be structured as a Supporting Organization in the form of a charitable trust, under the direct control of The New Horizons Foundation serving as Trustee or as a Supporting Organization that is operated “in connection with” The New Horizons Foundation and is “functionally integrated” with the Foundation’s purposes.

FAMILY LEGACY

CHARITABLE TRUSTS

We help individuals establish and operate charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts and IRS Section 4947 charitable trusts.
A charitable trust used in association with a Donor-Advised Fund in the Foundation can provide many advantages to the family for current and future tax planning and giving.

FAMILY LEGACY

LEGACY PROJECT

Many generous families plan to make significant charitable gifts at a later date after the expiration of a trust or at their death. By establishing a Legacy Project, an individual can name The New Horizons Foundation as the charitable beneficiary of a trust or their estate with instructions on how the funds should be distributed after their deaths and know that their wishes will be carried out. The donor can even name family members to serve as managers of the project to make charitable distributions on their behalf. This type of project can ensure that organizations, which have come to rely on a donor’s regular support, will not be disadvantaged by their death.
