Widows Hope

WIDOW’S HOPE was formally launched as an organization in the spring of 2016.  It was birthed as a result of a calling from the Lord on the life of myself, Barbara Moore, in 2005, two years after I became a widow.Widows-Hope-Barbara-Moore

My husband, Don, passed away in December 2003.  Six months after that, in the summer of 2004, a widow-friend of mine invited me to attend a Bible Study written just for widows, by a widow.  It is called, THE WIDOWS WORKBOOK, by Dixie Johnson Fraley Keller.

Since the Bible was my guidebook and source of strength, I was drawn to attend this study.  God spoke healing and hope into my soul through participating in, not only the written study, but the interaction with other widows who understood what I was going through.

Because of this I felt God leading me to “put out the call” to other widows to share this moving and helpful study with them. As a result I have continued to lead groups of widows through the 13-week study, watching them go from “I can’t go on,” to “I am ready to live-on.”  I called the study, “God’s Word for Widows.”

(2 Corinthians 1:3,4 says “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”)

Widow’s Hope (the new name for the organization) serves women from those who’ve been widowed recently (ideally within the past one or two years – but not too soon after the occurrence because grief is too raw, making it difficult to focus), to some for whom it’s been three to four years, but they have not yet been able to move on or find their own purpose.Widow-Hope
