Cyclone Seroja Appeal for West Timor
On Easter weekend 2021 Cyclone Seroja devastated numerous islands in the West Timor region of Indonesia, the third deadliest tropical cyclone on record for the Australia-Indonesia region. Current figures include over 229 fatalities, 102 missing, and over $255 million USD in damages.
The impact will be long term. Thousands of homes were destroyed or severely damaged, with some people losing everything. Farmers lost crops, leaving them without food for this year and without seed for the next. Over 120 fishing boats were lost in several communities, leaving their crews without their livelihood until new boats can be built.
This project will assist the Disaster Relief efforts of the GMIT denomination, providing trauma healing, aid (such as food, temporary shelter, water, clothing, Bibles) and reconstruction assistance to families impacted by the cyclone.
