Amor Costa Rica / Trellis

Poverty in Costa Rica reached 26.2% of households, the highest level in almost three decades, in the years following COVID. In particular, a large percentage of women head households and are raising children on their own with low-income jobs. Our goal is to increase opportunities for those in and around our small coastal town of Uvita.

So for the last few years, we have been offering free English classes to those in the community, and we now have five different classes for all levels. In addition, we help to feed and clothe the many migrants in our town who arrive with only the clothes on their back after walking across the Darien jungle in Panama. We have also become involved with support groups and education for locals who have been sexually abused -- as this and incest are issues few here talk about.

We believe that through working together, we can improve job opportunities which in turn, impact the lives of the needy. To impact and improve the community in and around Uvita, Amor Costa Rica collaborates with churches, non-profits, and community leaders to address the challenges of extreme poverty, lack of job opportunities, and fatherless households.

In addition, we are helping to feed and clothe the many migrants in our town who arrive with only the clothes on their back after crossing the Darien jungle into Panama.
