New Sight Eye Care is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and partnering with local communities to preserve and restore sight.
Why This Need?
According to the World Health Organization, 4 in 5 people who are blind or severely visually impaired are suffering needlessly. Although there are proven cost-effective health interventions to prevent or treat the causes, sadly, far too many do not have access to such interventions. Of those who are blind, 35-50% can see again after a one-off cataract operation. Sight restoration brings benefits that are instant, long-lasting and lifechanging – not just for the patients, but also for their families as well as the community.
How are you solving it?
New Sight Eye Care is a charity dedicated to long-term empowerment and partnership with local communities in Africa to transform lives and communities by preserving and restoring sight. Our latest and biggest project to date is the construction and running of a new eye hospital in Ouesso, Republic of Congo, strategically located to benefit the communities in Congo, as well as those in surrounding countries.
