About the Project Manager
I am a Mom of seven adult children, an Air Force Veteran, an author who works in full time ministry for a local Christian Radio station, a volunteer at a long-term residential program for single mothers that helps them escape from homelessness, and a public speaker.
In December 2018, my 19 year old daughter, Jackie Coleman, met a young man (Robert Austin Gaus) through an online dating site. She introduced me to Austin a few days after meeting him. During that first encounter with him, I saw blaring red flags and warned Jackie about him. Despite my warnings, they quickly got engaged and moved in together. By April, she told me she was sorry she didn't listen to me and was planning to leave him. Two weeks later, on May 14 2019, my oldest son and I were on the phone with Jackie when Austin shot and killed her before turning the gun on himself. We would learn later that Jackie was pregnant at the time of her death.
I launched Jackie's W.A.R (Women At Risk) in 2021 in memory of Jackie to help prevent girls/ women from falling into the trap of domestic abuse and toxic relationships as well as to help rescue women in crisis.
I, myself, was a victim of domestic abuse before becoming an abuser for a season of my life. By the grace of God, I walked away from that toxic lifestyle 20 years ago and re-dedicated my life to God!
In memory of Jackie, I've committed the rest of my life to helping the other "Jackies" out there by encouraging them how to make healthy relationship choices for themselves through sharing Jackie's story. Through Jackie's W.A.R, I connect women to local resources that can help them as they climb out of domestic abuse.
