Welcome to Maisha Yangu Organisation!

Maisha Yangu is a Swahili phrase which means “My Life”. We believe that our life experiences and the choices we make determine our lives' trajectory.We bring these lives together to make a change as we empower children and youth to take charge of their lives.

Founded in 2020, Maisha Yangu is a community-based and certified non-profit organisation working with children and youth in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. It is located in Kawangware, a low-income area where about 295 500 people live. According to the latest 2019 census, 65% of them are children. The residents of this area have an income of less than 2 US dollars per day, which is insufficient to sustain a decent way of life.

Maisha Yangu Organization’s vision is to inform, inspire and to transform our community. To do this, we have taken a holistic approach which we call “The School of Life”. By giving the children a platform and safe space, they can express their ideas and needs and find solutions in addition to mentoring them. We train and equip them with skills that are needed to not only succeed in schoolwork but also in life. At the core of our organization, we guide the children to discover their talents and nurture them.

At the moment we help more than 150 children and young people with our educational programs into self-confident personalities and help them on their way to a self-determined life.
