Yuri is an 18-year-old young man in the Philippines whose life changed suddenly when a tumor on his spine caused total loss of function and sensation from the chest down. By God’s grace and through the kindness of many people, Yuri was able to receive urgent spinal surgery, critical hospital care, and the first steps of recovery.

Since then, doctors have confirmed that Yuri has classical Hodgkin lymphoma. He has now been transferred to a government hospital for cancer care to help reduce the overwhelming financial burden of treatment. We are thankful this option is available, while also recognizing that there is still uncertainty about whether the care there will be sufficient for his needs. If necessary, Yuri may need to return to private care.

His oncologist has shared that the current plan is for 6 cycles of chemotherapy, followed later by radiation treatment.

Yuri’s needs now include physical therapy, transportation, home-based nursing and palliative care, medications and medical equipment, and other related expenses in the months ahead.
