Christian Adventure Ministries

OVERVIEW:

We, Waffle and Dr. Val, serve as missionaries in the remote villages of Uganda with the Karamojong, Teso and Sebei people, together with a local Christian Non-Profit called CLIDE Consultancy (Community Livestock Integrated Development Consultancy), as well as other local partners. We use community development initiatives, livestock & veterinary trainings, and educational scholarships to develop relationships in these tribal communities. This shows God’s love practically, drawing people into His presence to also know Him, love Him and serve Him as well. Our ministries are multi-faceted and wholistic including:

  1. Livestock health and husbandry training for semi-nomadic herders. https://newhorizonsfoundation.com/project/single-project/852
  2. Child Sponsorship of orphans and vulnerable children who have been decimated by tribal warfare, HIV/AIDS and drought or famine. We also have 4 new ECD centers (Christian Pre-School) that we are developing to to provide education in the remote gold mining villages. https://newhorizonsfoundation.com/project/single-project/849
  3. Famine Prevention to help communities recover from last year's famine. This last year was very insecure, so many people could not plant their gardens, for fear of being attacked by raiding warriors. They resorted to eating the seeds that they would have normally planted. We are finishing up planting and are providing seeds for this new season, to that they will once again be able to have food for their families. www.newhorizonsfoundation.com/project/single-project/1265
  4. Peace building with tribal elders and warriors, with livelihood enhancement for this warring tribe who has been rustling cattle for the last 30 years. www.newhorizonsfoundation.com/project/single-project/853
  5. Herbal veterinary medicine development to bring a sustainable supply of indigenous medicines into the hands of the local communities and to provide an income generating source for the traditional healers (many who were former witchdoctors).  www.newhorizonsfoundation.com/project/single-project/854
  6. Discipleship training using Chronological Bible Storying for semi-literate communities and spiritual songs and dramas. New churches are begun as God brings his people together. www.newhorizonsfoundation.com/project/single-project/1583
  7. Aquaponics. Teaching them how to raise fish, instead of giving them a fish. By combining fish farming with hydroponic gardening, we can create alternative, sustainable food sources. www.newhorizonsfoundation.com/project/single-project/851

We also have additional needs which help us to implement these various ministries. The roads are very rough out here and our vehicles are often stressed and need repairs, new tires, or spare parts. If you would like to help us keep our Landy and our Toyota moving, please donate here:  www.newhorizonsfoundation.com/project/single-project/857.

Waffle likes to plan ahead. We have several ministries which are growing and thriving, yet, the community does not have good structures to meet in for those ministries. This includes new church plants, ECD/Christian Nursery Schools, and our Ngenge Discipleship Training Center. If you would like to donate for construction projects for any of these ministries, please donate here:  www.newhorizonsfoundation.com/project/single-project/850

OUR STRATEGIES

People living in spiritual darkness often find themselves in abject poverty. Hopelessness and helplessness pervade the thoughts of those without the true knowledge of God's purposes and Christ's love.  By working through local organisations like CLIDE and local churches, we are able to empower families and communities through an integrated, wholistic ministry, we strive to bring wholeness to the body, soul, spirit and mind. Our wholistic approach provides economic opportunity and spiritual growth through evangelism and discipleship, livestock and agricultural initiatives, child sponsorships, peace building with tribal warriors, herbal medicine research and development, church planting and pastoral training.

OUR HEART

We love Jesus and we cannot resist sharing the hope and love we have in Him! He chose us through His grace and amazingly loves us and has appointed us to serve. God, through His Spirit, calls us to obedience to this calling that is within us, from deep within our souls. We continue to press forward to reach people with the love of Christ while there is still time. The average life span for men in Karamoja is 49 yrs old, 54 for women. Many children die young. Satan is doing all he can do to take as much territory as possible, but God is, at this moment, is moving with power and grace across this land. We can feel His urging at this crucial time to press on with courage and determination.

OUR HISTORY

Waffle attended Multnomah Bible College and has been working in multiple ministry levels, training youth, inspiring pastors and conducting many short term missions around the world. Dr. Val is a veterinary missionary with 30 years of experience on the mission field, working with the poor and empowering them to reach new heights and spiritual depths. We met in 2008, through an unusual matchmaker named Louis Palau! God has now brought us together to serve Him in Uganda, and we are so glad to be together! God is Great!
